Overview

The Council’s “Open Source” Cluster was established to facilitate a dialog among technology professionals who are engaged in efforts around Open Source.

The Open Source Cluster Advisory Board / Organizing Committee meets on a regular basis and is open to member executives with direct experience/expertise in Open Source. The Organizing Committee convenes a couple breakfast briefings per year where industry experts discuss the latest issues and are available for general Q&A from the audience.

Recent sessions have included:

  • Listen to podcast of Sept, 26, 2007, "Microsoft-Novell: Building Bridges" event
  • Open Source and the Enterprise: Enterprise Adoption, featuring Dan Bricklin of Software Garden, and experts from Gartner Research, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Fidelity Investments.
  • The Council hosted a meeting between software industry people and Commonwealth of Massachusetts Secretary for Administration and Finance and Commonwealth CIO Peter Quinn.
  • The SIG had a 6 hour "Open Source Summit" as a Kickoff Meeting. There were three sessions with panels and much audience participation
